A Surface Level Overview About the Financial Side of the NBA

🤖 Using Machine Learning To Estimate Player Salaries...
A while ago I saw a company who based themselves on estimating NBA player market values. I decided to give my perspective on how someone can create such a model for their own use as well as the impact companies like this are goin to have in the future.
Check the article out here:
🤦♂️ The Lakers Are Clueless...
Last year the Lakers decided to not pay Caruso, choosing to replace his impact through THT. When that did not work out, they went and signed Stanley Johnson (that was a good idea- actually). Unfortunately for them Johnson was not enough to help on the perimeter, so they had to trade both THT and Johnson to the Jazz for Pat Beverly- who is... wait for it... getting paid more than Caruso while having around the same impact.
🗻 When Can Seattle Get Their Team...
The NBA definitely has too much talent right now. With the addition of international players and many undrafted players showing out, I think it is clear that there are too many good players who can not show their skill because teams are too crowded.
Also with the rapid and more importantly succesful expansion of the MLS and NHL, I think the NBA will follow some time in the next 10 years.
Expanding the league means increasing the amount of money to go around for both owners and players and I think the addition of a mid-season tournament might have to do with increasing the amount of money in the league.
My take is if the mid-season tournament is successful then the NBA WILL see an expansion in the coming years.
