Coaching, Coaching, and NBA 2k

🇺🇸 Parallels In American vs Global Approaches To Coaching
Tuchel was recently fired by Chelsea- a British soccer team, recently bought by the Los Angeles Dodgers ownership a group.
Many in England, saw this as a very surprising and unexpected event. After all Tuchel won several trophies at Chelsea including the equivalent to the NBA championship. Tuchel is a head coach who is great at game planning, but he has no interest in managing players, egos, or working with ownership to bring players to the a team. That is a huge red flag in the American approach to sports, reflecting a key difference in how Americans approach sports compared to Europeans and the rest of the world.
Below is what the Chelsea ownership had to say about Tuchel.
Todd Boehly: “Tuchel is extremely talented and had great success, our vision for the club was finding a manager that wanted to collaborate with us” 🚨🔵 #CFC
“But we weren’t sure Thomas saw our vision the same way we saw it, we didn’t have a shared vision”, told @SALTConference.

In American sports, coaches are expected to act as the leaders and not just tacticians is the right approach. In the end Tuchel got fired because he had no interest in communicating with players and ownership.

🎮 NBA 2k's Career Story Continues To Limit Them
As we all know NBA 2k recently released and this career mode is just CRINGE. To me this is just a half-assed product which makes no sense and lacks dynamic.
One of 2K's revenue sources is in game ads, which they incorporate in a very smooth way. The career story mode and the city exists to get you to interact with these Ads (like training at the Gatorade facility). This is why 2k invests a lot in creating a story mode that users care about.
However, 2K's approach to this story mode leaves a lot to be desired. If 2k want their game to be played because of story lines, I think there should be a transition to creating dynamic story lines similar to the game Detroit Become Human. Having different story lines that are dynamic and match up with your actions and play on the court (rather than a single story line) means players (or users) will be more likely to even try playing several times with different paths in this story thus interacting more with the in game advertisements.
